Welcome to Fetch and Coatitude Book book Podcast. I'm Melissa and I'm Elise. This show is about two very best friends who love books but also love talking about life occurrences. Join us for the girl talk. It'll get real, it'll get fun, it'll get interesting. Sit down, buckle up. And let us talk to you about all of the things. Hey, guys, Hi, we've missed you. I have to apologize formally because I've ruined our audio and our recording last week because after I interviewed my mother, we recorded our own session and while I was editing, I totally have something up somewhere. I messed up. I messed up, guys. It's okay. It was like it was a forty five minute episode too, and it's just poof gone. Like I tried opening it the next day to edit and it was like file damaged and I'm like, no, what, why are you? I wonder are you like me? No? It wasn't emotionally damaged. Okay, emotions damn. Oh that that night it was emotionally which I was so angry. I know you text me and You're like, I'm so mad. I was like, oh girl, I. Was just about in tears. Because I was like, no, we had a pretty good episode. God, it happens. We're still learning. That's okay. Well, and it was a good thing that I did do that interview with my mother because it did give us an episode, right, but that was not the one that I was gonna put out. Oh so it's been a week. It has been the week from Hell. I swear to. God, I did tell you that this week felt like it was the longest forty seven years of my life. It's been eighty seven years. I am not close to forty sevens. Well, I'm just saying, like, insert the gift of Rose from Titanic. It's been eighty four years. So this week, hopefully I don't lose the I'm gonna save it in like five different places. But this week we are planning on going over the last ten chapters, because we did go over the last five and then immediately after, immediately after we recorded, we went and read together the next five chapters, in which we I think we've discussed. We now have to like we have to set something up where we're either videoing ourselves and make it like some sort of TikTok because somebody has been posting a lot of tiktoks lately. It's me. I've been doing it. A little shittery. No one even knows who you are at this point on TikTok at least, But my gosh. That TikTok you posted the picture of all of us. I wish you could have seen his face. He like flips the phone around. He's like, did you see this? And I was like, I did this scowl? Oh my gosh, this scowl was. There's a reason why I did not tell him. I didn't even tell you that. I was promised. I wanted it to be stumbled up. Oh it was, and he was like, what is this? It was great? I love that. I love that so much. I showed my husband and he was like, whatever, he's already over me posting on I. Think they're over us in general. So that's not fair. Both of them have been uber sassy today. For whatever reason, we're all uber sassy today. I don't know what it is. It's something in the air, I swear, I mean I know what it is. For me, I'm overtired. I was gonna say, I think it's because we're all kind of feeling a little bit better than we have been except for your little but we also there's just not enough sleep right. Now for anybody. Nope, So where you're going to be talking about the book again? I think we should do our question from last week too, because I didn't post on Facebook a question of the week because it didn't go out, And we'll pick another one. You said you had something to talk about because some big controversy in book talk world. Not even in book talk world, just author books in general world. Oh yeah, I don't know if I've heard about this. I might have. I don't know. I've been deep dive in into it because I have feelings. But oh okay, so maybe a controversial episode, then. Maybe I don't think it's controversial in a bad way. Oh okay, I just do you want to know what it is? No, okay, tell me later. Okay, let's get through. Our review first of the book. Freaking rowdy, fucking rowdy, cloudy rowdy. Yeah, so he doesn't deserve a real name right now, like I am mad at him. Yeah, and as the person that was our favorite character in the book, I think he's now turned one into one of our least favorite, only because I think he's hiding stuff. Oh well, yeah, mm hm. He doesn't get a real name. It really madic. I truly don't. I don't know where he got that band from. It's still bottling my mind. Right, I am not a fan that we find out that you could buy they were tons of them were bought from the store that Heather works at and Ricky work app. Yeah, I don't like that. So and again this I said this last time, which I said this last time, which didn't make it into the episode. I had said, I think it's some sort of like initiation mm hmm. And we'd kind of discussed that a little bit. I had said that it was like cult like behavior, but you had said that you didn't think it was like a cult type of deal, which is fine, Like you're perfectly fine to have your own opinion on it. That's just where my brain goes. It's like, because I'm fanatic. I'm wondering, now that I've read a little bit further, I know, right, I'm wondering if it is is the original Bad Boys group. So Heather's dad the sheriff, well, you and Cloudy's dad. You had been suggesting that it was the sheriff the whole time, and I agree that he has a sketch ball in a half. But in these last five chapters, this is why we needed to record ourselves because we're sitting on the couch reading this together on our kindle apps and some of the time like I would slap you and be like, oh my god, no no. But now that we've read the last five I am I'm wondering if it's the original group of boys that hung out, because we know that Heather's dad, the DA and the sheriff all hung out when they were younger, but we don't really hear about Cloudy's dad. We don't know if the priest was part of that. And I'm wondering if that was like because they had told Heather they were sold what fifteen twenty years ago? Yeah, if that was like the original bad boys group. But that's what makes me think now more so than last week, that this is some sort of initiation, like it's just a group like this town just recruits the guys and then like almost like sacrificial like the girls, whoever has girls, those are the sacrifices to this like club. Yeah, I'm wondering if Maureen's dad left because. Of that, like he didn't want to be a part of it anymore. Yeah, like because he was one of the original bad boys. That sounds like, well, I'm giving them the connotation of bad boys group because we know that the DA wasn't great. We know that the sheriff caused issues before it was the sheriff, Like we know this. Yeah. I also wondered because they say that Marian's dad is in jail, I'm wondering if because the sheriff was one of the bad guys. And I mean, again, it seems to be like this ring like Heather's dad is the DA, the sheriff is also involved. I'm wondering if he wanted to leave and they said no, oh yes, put him in jail. Yes. The other thing that I was thinking. Those are both elected positions. So yeah, they probably have a lot of pull. Right, right, I'm I'm correct in that thinking. Right, Normally sheriffs and DA's are elected positions. You don't just go and interview. For it, right, Yeah, that's correct. I mean I think that you can work somewhere and like earn your way up to sheriff, but I'm pretty sure you have to put a bid in and like push for yourself to be shared. Yeah, you have to campaign. Mm hmmmm. I'm now like we need to talk about this because this is like the previous ten chapters. At one point, Heather had gone to work and Ricky was acting super weird, like looking for somebody. And it makes me think that Ricky is now like really scared. I feel like he's scared, like he's worried for his life. I think he is too. I also think that Ant is not as innocent as. We want him to be, yeah, or as he's being portrayed, because we do find out that Heather overhears a conversation on the party line of Aunt talking, and that was right before she goes to work or right after she goes to work. I don't remember, but Aunt said, you promised me it was my turn, or I'd have a turn or something. I'd have a turn with her. Yeah. The other thing is so, now that we've read further in, I think it was about Maureen. I also wonder if it was Maureen. The other thing is, so, while Ricky was being super weird, right, he said like he wanted Heather to know that Maureene never made it to the. Party, right. Yeah, he made it very clear that like and which, now that we've read the next five, makes me really worried that Ricky does know more. It makes me worried that Aunt also knows more because you were prompt. He was promised to turn with her. But Maureen is deceased. Yeah, big spoilers. They found a body. The girls decide to go off to look to see whose body this is, and it happens to be Maureen's. Like they make it seem like it could either be Beth or Maureen. And again, we were sitting on the couch and Alissa goes, it's gotta be Maureen. There's no way they'd kill off Beth because right, And there's a part of me that believes that the whole Beth thing is totally unrelated or the fact that Maureen was so much a fighter that she fought. And this is the craziest thing too, is that the Sheriff's fit's already ruled this suicide, which is bizarre, right. But we also have talked. I think it was in the last episode that did not make it out as an episode that I am not sold that Beth's. Timeline is the same timeline as ours. I do wonder if Beth is behind or ahead of a little bit, because she doesn't technically know how long she's been in the basement or wherever she is, because we don't know where she is. We did chat that maybe this party that they were going to was at the sheriff's house and Beth was hearing it from somewhere near the sheriff's house because she's only heard a woman's voice once. Right. We also talked about how that technically, because I had suspicions, she could technically be somewhere in Heather's house right, because her father gives me kind of icky vibes anyways, and I'm really curious because I really think that he might be involved a lot more than he says he is. Yes, but that brings us onto the next five chapters where Heather goes to her father and provides information about what they saw and seeing the sheriff. That's the last chapter we ended up on too. But the way that he reacted makes me feel like maybe he didn't know because some of the. Clarifying questions he was asking. I feel like he whether he's mad that he wasn't involved or whatever. I do feel like maybe he doesn't know about all of the marine situation, which. I mean very well could be that the sheriff is hosting parties on his own and not telling him, right. Which is kind of the feeling I got. But the way the questions he was asking, I did not feel like it was a how do I cover this up? It was a more of a hmmm, what else? What else do you know? And I'm wondering if maybe the sheriff has been accused of something similar to this before and that's why, because they were they were all so close or right, I'm wondering if maybe that's why. But it is also sketchy to me that, like one of the last paragraphs, one of the other deputies or whatever brings in whole ring of keys, and I'm no. That was the detective either way, the one that's from out of town. Oh yeah, it's a detective from out of town that brought in all the keys. So maybe maybe Heather's father shouldn't be as sketchy as he is. He might just be coming off like that because he's doing a deep dive investigation on what's going on, and he's trying to be hush hush and playing both sides. Right now, Yeah, I can see that I do, for the life of me, hope that he is not a bad guy in this I really do. I hope not either, because Heather's been through so much, but it wouldn't like shock me. We did find out what happened to Heather, Yes, in the these ten chapters. I'm we had mentioned before. Do you think that the voices her mother was hearing our people in the tunnels and she is playing that protector role. So here's my thought on that whole thing. So spoilers, Heather's ear was burnt off by her mother having a manic depressive episode. My whole thought on that though, is was it really a manic depressive episode or was he trying to like almost like, I know this is super hard, like this is not great to talk about, but what if it was supposed to be a mercy kill. What if she was trying to save Heather from whatever is, like, whatever was going to happen to her as a teenager. Because this whole thing like going to the getaway camp and whatnot, that also sketches me out. Yeah, so Cloudy and Heather were picked to go to this spring retreat thing with the priest, and Cloudy does not want to go. He and his parents already have told him he doesn't have to, which so. That's what makes it weird to me, is that his parents already said that he doesn't have to go. So if it was some sort of initiation like his father running or being part of it, I don't think that that would happen. I think his father would be more persistent because the sheriff is very on board with all these kids. Heather's dad. But here here is my hot take of that. What if I have told you this part yet. What if the moms were all the original girls and that's how they ended up together. These guys and these girls and Cloudy's parents actually fell in love and they actually like each other. And his dad is like, I can't do this to you because I know how much it fucked me up. So I'm wondering if Cloudy got the bracelet from like the sheriff or the boys trying to spread this club. Yeah, and maybe that's why he's trying to hide it because. He knows, but he doesn't know enough yet, right, But I still am mad at him. I can be mad at him about. This well, but I mean, I like in talking about it, I really don't think at this point that he does know. I don't think he knows, but I think he's trying to hide it from Heather because he doesn't want her knowing that there's some sort of club and she isn't involved, because he knows that hurts her feelings. Does Cloudy know about the bracelet? No, so he didn't see anything that was going supposedly that was going on in the Sheriff's basement with Maureen. He said he didn't, which is. I just couldn't remember if Brenda and Heather I told him or not. I don't know. They hadn't told him because they didn't want him to feel bad about it. Also, what a save that the party they're supposed to have at the sheriff's house gets interrupted because they find Marene's body. I'm worried that it wasn't just a party party the same because this is one of the rare instances that Heather's mom feels good enough to actually leave the house, but when she finds out, like they get there and they find out that this is not just a dinner between them and the sheriff, this is a bigger party, like a lot of people are supposed to show up, but they're the first ones there, and at that point, Heather's mom is like, I don't think I want to do this anymore, and she starts to have her mental breakdown. And both Heather and Junie noticed this because Heather was going to go exploring to try and figure out if Maureen was being held in the sheriff's house. I think, and this is just like going along the path of like the sheriff as the bag guy. I'm wondering if Heather had gone into the basement, if instead of finding Maureen, she would have found bath. Same. The other thing that I want to point out is in the car when her mother finds out her name's constant. Constance sounds like conscience. I'm wondering if when Constance is in the car and realizes that it's not just them. First off, it bothers me that both of the girls picked up on the issue and dad didn't. Right well, and that has always been my issue with the relationship between Heather's parents. Right her father is like he'll be there for the moments that things go wrong or when she has one of her episodes, but is never there to take care of anybody, right, Like Heather has been the mom, and actually Heather feels jealous sometimes when her mom feels better because she isn't the mom anymore. I don't know if she's jealous that she's not them. I think she's jealous of the relationship Constance has with Junie because Heather isn't perfect anymore, because Constance made Heather not perfect anymore. Yeah, that relationship kind of weirds me out as well. It's so bizarre to me that their mother has a like, I want to dress Junie up, I want to make her pretty and all this jazz, but then leaves everything else basically to Heather. This is gonna sound super terrible and I'm so sorry, but this is where my mind went with it. M M. Heather. Even though she treats Heather like garbage, Heather is the favorite. Heather is her husband. Again, we don't know this. This is where my mind went with it. Heather is her husband's child. We do not believe that Junie is her husband's child. Not at this point, is Juny the sacrificial lamb? Yeah, so she's trying to treat her nice right now? Mm hmmm. I wonder if that could be the reason why Heather's mom did scar her so that she wasn't perfect anymore to save her. Yeah, I mean it's revolves around the same kind of theory of like saving Heather. So I don't know, I know we're gonna read the next five chapters as soon as we're done, because okay. So we went out to breakfast this morning and we were about to leave them, like, okay, so when are you guys coming over that less is like, well, I really want to read the next five chapters. So we got a record so. We can read, so it's like sooner than later. Fiance was like okay and was like, I want to read the next five chapters. Now, which is fine because again, if we didn't do these, like every week is five chapters, we would already have the book like done. We would have had it done in a week. It is a really easy read. And the last few people that I've seen that are following along with the podcast, they're like, oh, this is such a good first read, and I'm like, good, lad, glad we picked a good of thee Yeah. I think my cousin who we shout out to past time, who has. Now finished two books in his starting on her third. Yeah, we talked about that last week. Also wants to read this book now. She asked me again what the name of it was, and I was like, girl, I think you would love this. Yes, this is This is a really hard one to put down every week. I do wish that it had trigger warnings. It probably should. We've talked about this too. It really should have some sort of trigger warning. I mean, I know it's a mystery thriller, but still it should have warnings of like essay. And again, it doesn't specifically say that, I mean kind of but not really like the Marian situation. Yes, but not really. And Beth doesn't come out and say it, but. Yes she does, does she? Yeah, yes, she does. The other thing that I want to bring up from the first five chapters that we didn't discuss for you to hear is the thing that makes me think that it's bad that it's the sheriff for Beth is that she describes even I think it was in like the very first few chapters, is she describes that the thing that she knows the most is that the gentleman's well I wondn't even say gentlemen. The dude's footsteps are super heavy and his belt is heavy, and all I can think of is that's why I think it's the sheriff, because one not even combat boots but police issued boots, and two a gun belt is heavy. You're going to hear that hit the. Ground, right, So yeah, we need to read the next n I'd be so ready. I probably would have bringed this in a day. I'm not gonna lie. Oh my god, I know. I don't know why. It's been mystery thrillers lately have been hooking me something awful, which is why my sister just gave me four books of Freedom McFadden and she's like, no, you need to read these, and I'm like, great. Your sister also sent books for me and their arcs, and I'm so excited. I almost signed up for an arc yesterday. Actually, yeah, I think we discussed that last time, so I am an ARC reader for two authors at least would hate them. So they're so fluffy. They're so fluffy. The one that I found yesterday, and I'm still considering signing up for it and having it sent, because I mean, why not. It's a fantasy romance, or at least a fantasy, which I know is not your jam, so I was just like, Wow, this is something that maybe I could do and I have until April to read it. But I'm like, I'm also not one to commit. I have commitments. Well you can't say that. I'm also married, so I don't really have commitment issues. But I would say that's accurate, though you have decision making issues. How about that? That's a better My ADHD does not let me finish things, specifically with my SO I have hyperfixtion. Can I share? What? Can I share with the crowd? What so elist has hyperfixation issue is an ADHD and she needed to do something and I said, oh, have you done this yet? And she said no, and I said, oh, at least hup too. We shared this before. Oh sorry, okay, keep going. That's my favorite story. You know. She said it to me the other day. Was he mad? He didn't even hear it and I did, fantastic. I want her to say it to my significant other. I want her to look at him and be like. Hup to Oh my god. So I have super hyper fixations on crafting. It's at the point where she'll start crafting something and not tell me because she's like, I'm gonna work. I'm gonna do this one and I'm not gonna share it till. I've done it. And I'm like, okay, so i'll never know. Thanks, well, okay. So I also had a hyperfixation at one point when when the bedroom was free and I started making that closet into a recording studio. So I had set everything up. I was gonna do this, and I was like, yeah, I'm gonna I'm not gonna tell anybody. I was like, I'm not even gonna tell Lissa because I want to have this be a big surprise that I was trying my hardest to be a I was trying my hardest to be a voice actor, which would still be an awesome thing for me. But I also like, listen to myself back on this, and I'm like, I ain't nobody don't want to listen to this. My voice is just a little bit deeper than most women's. I do have different like I have when I'm at work. I have my my work voice, same like you answer the phone. Hello, my name is Elise. Hi, you've reached Elise, so I can do the voice. But I like talking on this. I'm like, I'm slouched right now. What mine is thank you for calling. This is Alyssa. How can I help you? But you also sounds super super like peppy anyways, whereas I feel like I'm just like. It's funny watching release drive or like her husband drive and she's in the passers seat because today you are driving it. And I was like, oh, she's in a bad mood. I'm not though, that's the weirdest thing. But you're like you were scrunched out in the seat and you were mean mugging out the one and I was like oof. And then I got out of the car and I saw you and I went and I was like, okay, I'm mean muggin girl. You looked like someone pissed in your goddamn cheerios and it was the last bowl. You know. Maybe that's why a lot of people didn't approach me when I was in school. But also you get to see other people are like, oh my god, stop this mess see it. And that's why, like, I'm definitely give off black cat energy, but when you get to know me, I'm definitely more of a golden retriever. See, I give off black cat energy when my fiance is around, because he is the golden retriever and I'm like, no, leave me at home. He really is. I think both of our husbands are. So Yeah, I have a problem with finishing out, which I'm having a problem finishing out this conversation. Actually, So I have a hard time finishing any crafting that I do. Like, I have a cross stitch that I've been working on for over two years. I've been working on my fiance's blanket for probably eight years. Yeah, because first off, it's so heavy that it kills my wrist in my arms to knit it. So i can do like two or three rows and then I'm done, and then I look at it. I'm like, never the fuck again. And then you forget about it. No, I don't forget about it. It's in my office and every time I walk it, I'm like. No, you just forget how much it sucked. And no, I don't even forget it. I'm like, oh, but he wanted it so bad. And now that he's lost weight, he's cold all the time all the time, Like even in bed, he's normally like the one that's warm and will play it off and I'm like. Don't touch me. I've been in just a sheet and he has had his blanket and like, no, he is gold all the time. I'm like, what do you mean it's a million degrees in this house? Oh gosh, yeah, but that that is what happens when you lose weight. He's lost a lot of weight. Yeah. Yeah, he's done really well. So proud of him. So what was the topic that you wanted to bring up? Do you want to do our question first or the topic first? Well, okay, so let's do last week's question because we already know the answers to that one. And the question was who are your favorite comedians? So we kind of agreed that the Blue Collared Comedy Tour, the four comedians from that are some of our favorites. Yes, I had some other ones. Listen didn't like them? No, I didn't say I don't like. Okay, you don't like specifically one, just because you're so. My husband and I were talking about this this morning. Actually, how what you have a lot of fears? I have a lot of weird fears. Yeah, but other things don't phaze me at all. So do you mind if I out you on this? Whatever? Alicsa doesn't like birds at all. We have talked about this. Alissa really just doesn't like any bird. I don't like birds. I don't like creatures that fly. I think that's my issue. Like I don't like grasshoppers. I think if I can fly, I'm not into it. Okay. Alyssa also doesn't like water, not really. She's gotten better, and we've also talked about this. I think that. So when I was younger, I loved water. Yes, I loved it. Yeah, And I don't know what happened, Like, I don't know if it was a dream or if one of my uncles like took me out and was like, oh, you can go swimming and like toss me over the in a life jacket, like just playing around and that was what did it? Or I had a dream. I don't know. As I get older, the deeper the water is. If I can't see through it, I'm not interested in it. So your other fear is that you really don't like puppets. And I felt bad because I sent you a TikTok earlier this week with two puppets from Sesame Street, Yeah, which I sent it. I went, oh, it's okay. So when we talked about this last week, I had mentioned that one of my favorite comedians and it's also my husband's. We watch every special of him that comes out, and we've seen him live. We enjoy Jeff Dunham, who is a ventriloquist, and her face was like, no, I guess I forget a lot of your fears. Those are those? Are it? Though? Those three things? Like, yeah, I think those are really it. I mean, I am scared of spiders, and my weird one is latex balloons. Stop it's not funny. I was laughing at the go go. So another comedian in the mind that I like, off topic from the four that we had talked about. I've seen Gabriel and Glacias Fluffy. I've seen him live twice. I enjoy him immensely. I love him so much. That's another person that I would really like to like. I'll bring you to Mexican. You want to go to Mexican, Well, we'll choose the minimal amounts of Mexican that's in this state, but we'll go right and then of course the four. Yeah, so we've got Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, Bill, Bill Imvall and Larry the Cable Guy. I used to we used to have their comedy show tour on DVD. I'm pretty. I'm pretty sure we still have it somewhere. But oh my god, we watched that all the time. Yeah, and any movie that Larry the Cable Guy was in we would watch that too. Yeah, it was great. Or Bill mvoll was in a couple movies as well. I think wrong Mighte has been too. Jeff Fox really, I think has been too is like maybe a guest star or something. But Jeff Fox early was always kind of my favorite. And my favorite is he is very controvert. I enjoy Matt Rife's content. I don't necessarily know if he's a great human outside of his content, but I do enjoy his content. I was gonna say, I feel like comedians in particular can be extremely controversial, just because, like again, people don't know if they're joking or not, and some of the topics that get brought up are controversial. Anyways, I think he has some allegations out against him. I have not a clue. I don't I think I think that was a thing. I don't know, though, I don't know. I just like his content. I like that he this is terrible. I like that he picks people out of the crowd and then harasses a shit out of him, but he's very open opportunity harassment blender. Yeah, I mean so I used to go up all the time. We have one comedy club up in Burlington, and I would periodically go up all the time. My sister and I went up to the Burlington comedy club together. We had a girl's night out and we went and saw Drew Lynch, who was on America's Got Talent. Yes, America's Got Talent. And he has a stutter. Well he did. He's actually worked through it where he doesn't stutter as often anymore, which is awesome. But he was phenomenal. And it's actually really funny because we were sitting at a table in like the middle of the room and my sister had seen somebody that she knew and said hi to her, went to school with her or whatnot in college. Well that person is now his wife. Oh that's funny. Yeah, they met at this comedy shows. So it's actually super funny because I don't know who she is. But it's a really cool story. Right, Like, we were there when they met and that's phenomenal. That's that's so fun. And they're also there's both of them are super cute. Together. I love that. So I who did else that I see? I saw it was somebody else from America's Got Talent, but it was the guy that dresses up as a dragon, Piff Piff the Magic Dragon. Yeah, we went and saw that supposed to be a play of Puff the Magic Yeah. He was pretty funny too. I think those are really the only two shows that I've gone to see up there. I will say I've gone to the Flynn Theater in Burlington and I've seen a comedy show there as well. I went and saw Bo Burnham. I saw Bo Burnham, and I saw Bo burn I'm with the guy that I was dating at the time and one of our friends. That was a really good show, I will say that. So, yeah, that was some of our favorite comedians. I mean you had said too, like you're not super super into comedians as much. But yeah, I mean, my fiance would love to sit down and watch roasts and stuff and like whatever. I'll sit there. It doesn't mean I'm paying attention, but I'll sit there for him. But I'm not like I sit down and just watch someone be funny. I guess I don't. I feel like I get weird cringies from it, and I don't know if that's supposed to happen, but sometimes like not for me. So I have to tell you something. And this is completely related, but not related. Okay, So most of the comedians that I've seen are at the Champlain Valley Fair. Yeah. I try to go to at least one show because the tickets aren't super expensive. The shows are pretty good. Yeah, so I usually try to go once a year. We went twice last year with my stepdaughter and her fiance. We had a great time. I was camping, so I want to tell you I saw they just announced their Saturday night show. Do you want to know who it is? Because I want tickets? Yeah, but also camp I don't give a shit. It's close enough. We can go for night and have a party and then go back Bow Wow Soldier Boy and Fat Joe and I'm like, I went and saw Little John last year. The boys need to learn the Soldier Boy dances before we go. If that's what we're doing, I want to see him crank that. My husband when I told him, he was like, oh, I like some Soldier Boys songs. I wish I had gone to the Flow Riders concert. I did have a friend say that it wasn't all that great because he's very auto tuned, which is fine. The one person I'd like to go see who is heavily autotuned, but he is an amazing singer is T Pain. Oh T Pain. I guess has an amazing, amazing singing voice, but he is heavily autotuned in his albums. Yeah, but if he's an amazing singer. Anyways, I'll go and watch that. Right, you're gosh darn right. Okay, what was it that you had to talk about? So we all know that AI is a huge thing right now, and there are AI voices that are reading audiobooks you there is things coming out from authors that are stating that AI should not be allowed to interfere in writing. So people should not be using AI to help clean up their writing or create a story or create a storyline because AI is pulling information from all of the things and that could be someone else's book. So what are the copyright infringement laws? Like, what are your thoughts on this? So I could understand the thought of like plagiarism, I get that completely. I will say so the book that I have been writing does use AI. It uses AI to come up with the scenes in the chapters. After I type in like what I want the chapter to be about. I also go back through and I completely edit, like I'll read through the entire I don't just go with whatever write there. I think that's ridiculous because I wanted to like, I'm writing it right, but I sometimes need help getting this the detailed problem. Yeah, I need help sometimes. But again, I am not just sitting down and saying, write my whole book. Right, And I think that right now. The drama is that I think I could be wrong. It's come out that a few authors have fully AI generated books. See that kind of gives me the ick. Actually, yeah, like that itself gives me the ick. Again. I feel bad because again I am writing my own book using AI for help. But it's not. I don't feel like you can put your name on that if it's fully written by a software. That's pulling information from other people's books, right, and from other writings, because that's basically what AI is is it's pulling information from everywhere. Right, And that's where I'm like, again, I'll use it to give me like some of the setting and stuff like that. But I've gone through and written a good chunk of my book. I've only gotten four chapters written, but I've gone through several times. At this point, I haven't gone further than four chapters because I've gone and edited thoroughly at this point. And I don't know. I don't think that's I don't think that's right. No I could. I agree. I don't think you can put your name on a book that you physically all you've done is typed in what you want it to be about, right, and then press generate whole book. That to me is absolutely disgusting and you should not be paid for. That, absolutely not. And what about these people who this could be their favorite author because they've read things from them before. What if won the quality AI's quality is not great, not yet. Two? What if you're expecting something and you're like, oh, this is my. Favorite author by their book no matter what, because I have auto bis, doesn't matter what it's about. I have autobias. Right if someone were to do that and I realized after I bought the book, I would be so mad. It feels like and I'm probably gonna piss off a lot of people, but it feels like a cop out. It feels like you're being lazy. Yeah. Absolutely, if your job is literally I'm an author. Yeah, I'm sorry, that's what you do. It is not that difficult to me, at least. I'm not saying it's an easy job. No, because there are some people that. I mean, you get writer's block and all that jazz. Again, that is why I use it as a tool to help support. But I'm not using it too right. Right, But that's the other thing, like, yes, it can be helpful, but also, where is it coming up with the information? Well, and that's just it has to come up from somewhere and right, it comes from the interweb. Which has all of the books. Right, it doesn't seem like original content. No, And I one hundred percent think that writing is difficult for authors. I one hundred percent Yes, once you get in the flow, it could be easy because once the story's there, it's there. But if you think about it, authors sometimes sign contracts that say this many books and this many years and you have to crank it out. You are under contract. I get that, but that said, like for me, that's where I'd be like, don't sign a contract if you know in your soul that you can't pump out that many books, right, you are not in my eyes, if I was ever to sign with a publisher, right and sign a contract. I've been writing this book for over a year now, right, I can't crank out a book a book a year, no way. Yeah, but know your limitations. Yeah. Also, and I know this is not feasible for everybody because people have children and lives and parents and animals and whatever. I do know that some authors take reading retreats and book a cabin in the middle of somewhere no one around, and they just sit and write. And that's the point. Well, right, And I mean we've talked about doing this for a reader's retreat, Like the whole point is to read through several books, right, Like, do what you need to do, but make it original content. Make it your brain as an author should be creative enough to come up with your own thoughts on it. Right, Right, Again, I've gone through and deleted whole paragraphs because I'm like, that is not me. But That's what I'm saying is you've gone through enough that, yes, I know you're using it as like a baseline, but how much of that baseline is still the AI at this point? Like you've changed it, how many times? How much of it is actually and. That's just it like a good amount of it. Because this is my second or third time actually going through the first four chapters, right, I plan on doing with the next like four chapters. I plan on getting four chapters quote written right, like I'm heavily quoting like written by Ai going through it at least three times. I don't think these first four chapters of mine, I mean, other than I haven't gotten through the fourth chapter yet, are like, I don't think any of it at this point. Is AI right loosely gave you ideas, you took, you ran with it, whatever. Yeah, but it is still my writing, right. I could see the other argument being like, well, I came up with the idea and I gave the prompt. Yeah, sure, sure you did. I can get I can come up with an idea and give you a prompt. That doesn't mean that I'm an author. I would love to be an author, but that doesn't mean I'm an author. Ideas are just ideas. Writing prompts are just writing prompts. In high school, my teachers used to give us writing prompts because we had a journal. We had to write every week. That is an original idea. The prompt is not the original idea. But no one's going to write the same exact thing. And if you and I come up with the same exact prompt and put it into AI, are. We coming up with the same exact book? And we're not. We won't because that's just not how AI works. But parts of that's going to be the same are very very similar. Right, And it's just like how I fully disagree, And maybe this is just me being old. I fully disagree with using AI for like essay writing and any of that. I don't agree with it. And the word for it is is like my stepkid is in college, she's taking college classes right now. I don't think she uses it as much as her fiance did to get her degree. Yeah, I just. Again, I'm probably gonna piss a lot of people off, and you know what, Welcome to my life. But using AI to me is not It should be used like on a website you can use widgets. I think it's a good widget. I do not believe it should be writing your entire book. But for your stepdaughter's fiances. To her point, she used AI on something and then turn it into the AI catch program or whatever they're using, and it didn't flag any of it. So what is the point. Again, We're getting into a technological savvy world in which AI is starting to threaten some of our education, some of our jobs. At what point I'm not saying that we shouldn't fully utilize the tools that we have. However, what are we going to do if we lose our jobs? Right? Like, absolutely, I agree with that our systems are not set up for a world in which AI does everything for us and we just sit back and let it happen, because those are the people that are going to become extremely poor because they don't have a job. Right. The other thing, convenience versus like economic convenience. The other thing is and this is probably a hot take, and I don't care. I refuse to listen to a book that's AI audio recorded. I will not do it. I have downloaded books because I've been so excited for it and realize that it's an AI voice and shut it off because first off, they. Don't read words correctly. There's no tone, like it's so mono tone, so like they just AI doesn't isn't smart enough for that, right, And I'm not going to sit through a book that I'm excited to listen to and have someone that is not even someone have something read to me that doesn't understand. And again, I think this comes back to the whole like, that's just lazy in my opinion, hire somebody to read it. It's not like So this is something that Audible tried to do. They tried to stop paying voice actors and only have AI for a little bit. And that did not go well. This was maybe three years ago. Yeah, yeah, back when AI was like starting to be like a thing. I mean, it's been a thing for a long time, but I think like back when AI, like, yes, AI has been a thing for a long long time, but back when a I started to be like a thing we were talking about openly, Audible tried to do that. It did not go well. I don't think no again, I think it's just a lazy thing. But that's just my hot take on it. Mm hmm. Tell me about the book you're reading? Which one? Which one do you want to talk about? Uh So, I actually just finished a book. I finished another audio book. Again, I'm trying to go through my list of books in Audible that I have had on my list for years, and I actually just I went through and did a lot of posts. I did a lot of reviews on some of my books that I've been reading because I want to get more free books. Have I no none of the giveaways of giving me anything? And I even tag Goodreads. I have to tell you, I'm really bummed that I didn't win the story graph thing because I had like five thousand pages of four thousand pages read, well over four thousand pages read, and I. Was like, meh, it worked so hard. It's okay, you enjoyed it, though, I'm gonna enjoy it more with a Cobo and free plug. Oh god, do I have a Kindle? Yes? Do I still want a Cobo? Yes? Yes? Do I want unlimited Cobo access for a year paid for me? Yes? So I finished, we get judged so hard. I just finished a alien romance actually though it was like I have read a lot of monster romances and alien romances. This one is a part of an eight book series. Uh, it was really good. It was really good, and I'm like kind of upset that I didn't read it sooner. But now I'm like, oh, I'm more upset because now I have to get the rest of this, and I think this was one that I actually had gotten from one of the stuff your ears. Okay, so it was. It was really good. So the book that I just finished was called Choosing Theo by Victoria Avelin. Aveline Avelin, one of those I'm sorry, cool, So I just finished that. It was good. It was so good. I actually really enjoyed it, just because again I like the fantasy, I like the world building, and this one was really good. God, that's awesome. I'm glad that you enjoyed that. Yeah, so, and I read it pretty religious physical books right now, I am. I'm trying my hardest to finish Light Lark, not because it's a bad book. I actually quite enjoyed this one. It did take me a while to get into it. I don't know why it's been taking me so long to get into books lately. But I'm more than halfway through this book now, and I do have the second book. But I just got a whole stack of books from my sister. She also sent me books. I'm so excited. So oh oh, actually, yeah, shout out to my sister because she actually she texted me earlier in the week. She's like, so I finally got some time. I'm gonna sit down and like, binge, listen to all the podcasts. She is so freaking cute and she's super excited. She asked if she could potentially be a more regular on the podcast. Absolutely, yeah, of course, we're gonna always pit you in. I'm like, but you need you need to catch you nickname, and she goes, I can just be the crazy cat lady. It's fine because I was like, yeah, because well says fetch on cattitude, what are you gonna be. She's like, I'll just be the crazy cat lady. And then we can have beyond. She can be the crazy Golden Lady. Oh my god. Yes, she gives off horrible Golden Retriever energy. I know it's because she's surrounded by them all the time. I know, the puppies are so freaking cute. Well, and this isn't how my sister has a black cat, so yeah, and she's like, the black cat is actually obsessed with her. She's cute. So yeah, we have a couple more of those that might happen. But so light Lark is really good. It's technically it's supposed to be a romanticy kind of but it gives off dystopian feels. It hasn't been super romanticized yet, and I'm actually okay with that. Is much more fantasy. It is much more like a fantasy fay kind of story, which is fine. But it's a trials book, trials and trivials book. But it's starting to get good. What else am I reading? Oh, I'm still I'm struggling through this book only because like hard topics, Yeah, really hard topics. I am struggling through Under Under Your Scars. I'm really struggling there. I looked at so I'm reading that one on Kindle. I looked at the chapter, like, looked at how many chapters I had left. I'm in part two. There's a part three, and I'm like, I haven't even gotten there. I mean, it's not funny because I've definitely been there, and like, it sucks because first off, if you're already struggling, I need to see how much I've read. That's why I think I like Physical Sometimes it is because I need. But the other side of that is if I'm in part two and I'm struggling, and then I realized there's a part three I'm just throwing the book. I'm like, fuck it, I don't care. No, I feel like I've committed so much my time at this point that I really, I really do want to finish it because I think that I would like it. I'm just really struggling to get through because I don't know. Maybe it's the way that it's written. It is well written, but I almost sort of like put myself into the character that all this hard stuff happened to, and I'm like, hmm, I don't like it, Like it just makes you uncomfy. Yeah, I think that's it for right now. I don't know what I'm moving on to an audible yet, What do I have? What do I have in audiobooks? I put out a poll for what I should read next. And it was it was between two. Really, it was between Daisy Jones and The Six and Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver and Elsie Silver one by one by one. So Elsie Silver will be my next read. M your sister also really wants me to read Stonemaidens, so I can give her that information. I just have to put this out there in the stack of books that my sister gave me. This woman, So I went to go visit her the other day, and she was super proud. She had to show me all of her books in which she has told me this grand plan to turn her office into her office slash library, which I love. That's great. That is what I would like to do with that other room eventually, and make it into like a guest room so people feel like they're sleeping in a library. Maybe I might just move in there, who knows. I know my husband wouldn't mind. He'd be like, look at this big bed all by myself. Yeah, the dogs can like cuddle up next to me. That's fine. But her office right now has wallpaper on the walls and it's sports themed, and she's like, mmm, she also wants to get a bunch of bookshelves and like put him like all over the walls. Is that the downstairs room? Yes, okay, so she's got boxes and boxes, girls say everywhere. Girls say, your grandmother's basement is full of all. I know, but you're actually gonna like turn like part of the basement into like a library. Right, that's up for debate, Ask your cousin. I don't think it's a debate. He's outvoted at this point unless you ask my husband, and then he's gonna side with my cousin. But men, I say that in the most living wight box the ball. I don't. As we were just talking about us being in a closet together. Everyone knows you're my platonic wife. That's right, that is correct. What's that fuck face? You've just made? You weird? Know? That was? That was a new one. I've never seen that one before. It's my proud face. That's why you don't see it so much. I'm crying with you anymore. Do you want to hear about my books? Yeah? Okay, I just finished Heart Life Music. M that's like Anny Jisney book. Oh yeah, how was that? It was really good? Yeah? Also, holy moly, the amount of people that he's met in his life is freaking wild. It's crazy. We would like to be next on the list of people that you meet. Yes, and just hearing, like reading the story of how he got to where he got fucking crazy. I'm sorry, but it's crazy. I know that this does not happen easily for a lot of people. And he fought tooth and nail to get where he is and it was so freaking cool to read and to see all the pictures. It was wild. I think that's great. I would like to borrow that book from you at some point. Yeah, my Fance is next on the list, but he also took the Book of Sheen, which was going to be my next read. So that's okay. I'll wait. I've got a list like my TVR is growing because my sister is now supporting. That I know, and I read Deep End Real Class to get it to you, so that one's done that. I was just waiting for you to tell me you're ready for it. That's fine. I would also like to mention, so yesterday was Valentine's Day. I got a message. I had already known about it though, because you had texted our group chat with the girls. Right. That doesn't mean I was going bullshit. It doesn't mean you were going to buy anything. So I get a message this conversation, Yeah, that actually would help you get. Yours, that you can read yours. Oh my god, we'll play it out life for you. Alissa had messaged my stepdaughter and her fiance and said, Hey, we're at a used bookstore. Do one of you need this book? Right? Do you need this book? Because I know you collect this author, and she said no. At two thirty seven, Yes, PM. So Alyssa will read her text and I will read mine in the way that I was writing them. I bought books I saw. Oops, oops my ass My fiance got books too, and baseball cards. Don't try to change the topic here. We aren't talking about him. Yeah, huh. He got four books? And how may did you get? Hmmm four plus one? I'm dying why? And how many was Alyssa supposed to buy this year? How many she she promised she would buy this year? Zero? The answer is zero. All of them. We went to the orphanage. What was I supposed to do? Leave them there on loved and without a home. The book Orphanage Girl. My fiance says, it's a It was a second hand store. They now have a loving home. Leave it be. And one of my favorite emojis to us is like all the lines like the face, just of lines, like squinting at you. That is my disappointed face. And that was our whole conversation. They got adopted me alone. Oh my god, I was. I was reading out the conversation to my husband while it was and I was also reading it. That's happening oh ridiculous, But I was just like girl, no shelf control. I put back more than I bought. So yes, I do have shelf control. And you're gonna love this. I'm sure how much you think the total was? Oh well, I mean it was a used thrift bookstore, so for five books? Wait, four plus one books? Nine books in total? Right because he got four two? Uh hmmm, I'm gonna gets thirty sixty nine. Oh the fact that you're so proud of that, you're so immature. Have you seen my fiancee I get it from. I grew up with him. What do you mean, I'm I'm. Totally freaking No. Your fucking sarcasm is the same all the time. You know this is probably why when we went out for the first time, you just fell in love with me too, because I dislike him. I know his on my first date was more of a you and my first date. We're picking on him again. We can't do this every time. No, I think he loves it, deep down, way deep down. He very much cannot wait for us to bring him on. We need to prepare for this, though, We need to prepare you for this. Dear bullied listener. Speaking of Bridgerton. No, that's what next week the second part. Yeah, yeah, the twenty eighth, right, yeah. No, twenty six. I binge that first part. I also just binge the first part. And I think all the listeners have the same feelings right now. I'm like, stop it, stupid, you've been looking so hard, and she's right there. I know. My poor fiance I turned it on. He's like, are you sick? And I was like why, and he goes, you don't normally watch TV and he was watching TikTok's or something, and I was like, and he goes, we're going to bed soon, and I was like, okay, we can go to bed. I just need thirty more. Minutes until I'm done binging this. No. I ended up only watching fifteen and then we. Shut it off. No, it is really good though, I just like the cast anyways. Yeah, so it's really good. Yeah. I think next week we're gonna have maybe if we get off our asses and actually like get some stuff together to talk about next week other than the book. We can do that on our own, but then we can bring in our significant others. Although my husband is like, I really don't want to do this. And then you're my cousin's just like I wouldn't do it. My husband's Like, we don't have to talk about books with them because my husband definitely does not. I bet you mine will talk about books for a minute. He probably will, but then we can like talk about they do a lot of video games together. I don't know he I think he's on his third book of the year already. Wow. Yeah, I'm pretty proud. You want to know how many minds on negative? That's okay though, because he reads other things instead, like manuals and stuff. And don't tell me you two because YouTube still count. So my husband definitely spends a lot of his time in the garage. And we were actually talking about this last week. Oh, speaking of we did talk a lot about sports last week. Hey Lacy, don't talk to me. How did you like our shirts? I told you not to talk to me. Hey Lucy about how the Patriots do? I won't talk about it, Hey, Lucy, stove it. The Snacki's were delicious. The snags were delicious. We didn't take any photos either. They did. I sent one to my mother and it was after we already had destroyed the turk. Oh yeah, so we made. I made a full blown turkey. It was a made pulled pork. It was not good. I didn't have any to be fair. We had five different types of chips. We had spinach artichoke dip. We had a fruit platter and a veggie plotter, and we had chili and cookies and shark cooterie. Yep, let's get this picture. Oh my gosh. I did take a picture to post and I was like, maybe not, that's a lot. It just looks like an organized mess. Yeah. Yeah, we had a lot of food. But the shirts situation. So Melissa and my cousin walk in. My husband was out in the garage doing tires, I think, and they walk in. They took off their sweatshirts that they were wearing. They're both they're both wearing matching Seahawks shirts that they specifically only bought to wear into the house because they know that my husband and I are Patriots fans. I looked right at you because I was on the couch, and I'm like, get out, get to fuck out my house. It was great. It was so much fun. Yeah, it was not a good game. Though, not a good game. I mean they did I know me too, but I mean, I was. It probably would have been more exciting to me if they actually played like they deserve to be there. I mean, I still love you, I still love you in my heart, but that was a terrible game. So Elisa and I just read the next five chapters sitting next to each other, slap at each other every once in a while. Like that's why. I think, that's why we need to record ourselves reading this. I need to get like a stand for our phones or whatnot so we can actually record it though, because that would be fun. I just would like to tell you if you watch us reading, please please ignore the comfy clothes, because we do we wear on comfy clothes when we read. And we are not skiing meny girls, you're we we curvy and frelo. Fee volumptuous, lumptious. I used to be skinnier. Game what happened? I had a kid, That's what happened with me, A lot of me. But I also really enjoy food, so I also really like alcohol. That's also what happened to me. So Okay, I think that's it for this week. We will be back next week, maybe with my cousin. That'd be cool. I was kind of hoping we could wait until we can move down and have bigger space. But well, I mean we can do that too. I have to tell you I do love the support. I do too. I mean, my husband is very supportive. He's just not He's like, I'll be supportive and that I'll watch the. Kid while you're doing this. Thanks. Man. Mine is supportive by going out of his way to make sure that I am embarrassed, by telling every single human that we meet to listen to the podcast, which I love. I love him very much for it. Yes, and we are going to be making business cards soon because we were asked to make business cards, which is fine. That's fine. I do not like being the center of attention and talking and hearing myself talk throws me for a loop. So to be thrown out in the middle of nowhere with hey by the way. Well, that's just like It's kind of like me making the tiktoks that I've been making. I'm like, I was trying to make that one where with me sitting on my little bench in the bathroom, and I was like, every time I took a picture, I was like, oh, go ahead, no, And of course I wasn't gonna ask my husband to come take the photo. No, no, because he'd be like, no, good enough. But yeah, we've been posting. I've been posting more tiktoks. I've been posting facebookies and instagrammys. There should be one going out real soon, like within an hour. Well, it'll already be out by this time, right, but yeah, we have we have some stuff going out. We're going to I've been horrible about updating the website. Same. I need to do some blog posts. I also need to do some blog posts. Okay, Well, we will talk to you guys next week, and hopefully I don't lose this. Don't put it out into the world. A lease, I will freak out on you. I will also freak out. Okay, we will see you guys next episode. Be on the lookout for our socials and our our social media's. If you're new here, welcome, thank you for coming. We're sorry, but we also appreciate you more than you know. Yes, as always, Oh, I did have a new GEO location. Where are you ready for this? It's another country, Canada. No think outside the box. I think it was a misclick and that's okay. Just tell me Zimbabwe. Yeah, I noticed it the other day. I was like, hi, I mean cool, random, totally random, but I'm like, awesome, welcome, thank you for listening, thanks for miss clicking. Okay, we'll see you guys next episode. Have fun. Bye,
