Episode 11: March...It's a Wrap!

Hi, we missed you. Don't roll your eyes at me. I miss them. Just because you don't doesn't mean anything. I was rolling my eyes at you. Sure she's already sick of me. It's only been twenty five minutes. Also, we're recording on a new day to day. Yesterday was not it for us, so get us on a weekday us me, but not it for well me and T. We both were having a day. That's fine. She is on a roll out there, she's been on something today. I ended up staying home today because I didn't feel great. I mean, so, my daughter got sick again, surprise. So I stayed home because I was just tired and nice, just didn't feel right. A girl I work with today was like I've got a step away really quick and disappeared and were like, okay, weird Her four year old five year old threw up all over the place and was just yelling at her to come and help him. Well, I mean, yeah, I mean that's so that's what my daughter did, like midnight Saturday morning. It would have been all of a sudden, like it has to be purely mom instincts. But because of where her her room is POSSI like, we keep our door open so we can hear her. But twelve thirty ish screaming, I launched myself out of bed, and of course then my husband launched himself out of bed, and we go running down the house and yeah, I was everywhere, like she she could enter in some sort of sick Olympics with the amount of like the distance that she gets. It's disgusting. But every time, too, it is not. It is never. And the worst part is, like she's three and a half, she's almost four. She's got the bucket down now, like oh poor kid, Like we have a bucket, we'll like give it to her, and she knows instinctually what it means. Like when she starts feeling bad, she'll start whining and then we're like, oh, here, you go and she just holds onto it and I'm like, oh, sweet, are like you should know this at three and a half. I mean, it's better than not knowing it well. And I'm just like, well, wait a second, like, why has it taking you so long to potty train? Like we're still potty training? Well? How how Like? At this point, I think it's just her being spiteful because she's clearly she's. Clearly ahead of the game for a lot of things, but potty training is not it. And talking because she doesn't want to talk to anybody but who. She's comfortable with, right, and she has been doing better at school, She's been doing great. Mm hmmm, so rude. I'm so tired, man. Same, I get that feeling. Today is wrap up for the March month. We know that it's coming out before March is done, but we've got some really cool things to talk about next episode. So we're gonna get ahead of the game, get it done today, and we will hopefully inspire you to read some of these fabulous books we've read. This month well, and we also wanted to give people the opportunity, so this will go out on the twenty seventh. Jesus so this will go out on the twenty seventh, and we wanted everybody to have the opportunity to go out and buy our next book Club read. Thanks to everyone who voted. See, and I think this is like, this is where it's unfair because my reading style is definitely not yours. But we tried to go with totally different genres for this reason. I'm not worried about it. No, I'll read it. I might whine about it the whole time, but I. What are you talking about? You whind about the Corey Girls too? Well, that was for a whole different reason. That was because I wanted to sit down and finish it. What but you still whind about it? Remind me to tell you every time you wine from now on? Got it? You did? What are you talking about? Oh? Did you like that? I've been keeping in more of our. Snorting that you include your snorting too. I don't do it nearly as much as you do. That is not true. I like to think it's true, but. Which is why she cuts some of hers out to make me look bad. I know I did not. I think I've cut out one snort for each of us because one of yours was not a train. Come on, we know it's not. God, No, no, it was. It was that one was really bad. So I was just like, I'll save you. Oh would be attracted for anyone anymore? He knows what he signed up for. Oh God. So so yes, we have our read for quarter two? Mmm, do we want to go over some numbers for March? Even though, like we did discuss this, if we read another book, I'll be lucky if I read half a book between now and the first. To be fair, I started a young adult book so I could have one more. Shit. I am supposed to be fucking recording this so we can see all of my reactions, because that was a good one. That was a good one. Yeah. I have a few young adults on my twenty six and twenty six and I was like, well, this is a perfect wrap it up. And be done real fast book. And then you all know how I picked my kindle books. This one also happens to be a young adult book. My god, that's not fair. I picked one, but I didn't pick well, I didn't technically pick it, but I didn't like read through them. I just was like, yeah, I have, I have. I have two kindle books going right now. It's just kind of like, based on my mood when I lay down to read at night, which one I'm going to read? One is the second book to the kindle book. I just finished a Drift, which is part of a four book series. I know we had this conversation earlier and I was gonna say we needed to talk about it, but both of us are having a hard time with starting series or not even really starting the series. It's just like, what am I trying to say. Continuing a serious anything past three books? Right now? I am not into I don't want anything to do with it, which really sucks because there are so many great series I have. I just can't do it right now. I just I can't commit right now to more than that. It's not even committing to it. I just my brain is not for it. Yeah. Well, I think my moods too lately have just been all over the place where because we're both mood readers. It's very much like, well, that one was great for right now now I want to move on. Yeah, I don't know. It's part of a fort. It's not as bad as like, it's not as bad as some serious like the Zodiac Academy that you absolutely hated. I did finish that book. I did feel like it was a bit repetitive. There's only so many times that the same two people can get in the same situation word in a different way before it doesn't even matter. Yeah, and I mean again, I did finish the series. I just finish it. Aren't there still books coming out? Well? No, yes, no, no, they they it's the same universe. It's just it's a multiverse type gross deal. No, Yeah, the main so okay, I will say I only read the I read the main books. I didn't read any of the novella's. I also didn't read like there's one teacher who has a spin off kind of or his wife does. I didn't get that in depth with it. I just didn't. I was like, this book series is already long enough. We got through what seven of them before I was like, I can't do this anymore. Yoh yeah, yeah, and it didn't get any in my eyes. Well, I was also gonna say the other book series that I loathed, which I think everyone also knows a guitar was far too many books. The first one shouldn't have existed. The rest of them sucked. So on that topic, Actually, I just saw this in the news, so everyone at this point should know that book six and seven are planned. Well, she decided to tell people there's going to be an eighth and I'm like, oh, song right through a song I don't know. Oh, that's all over. TikTok, I don't know. That was Rebecca yarosh okay for Fourth Wing. I think also gross. I hope at one of these times, like one of these quarter book reads is going to be a romanticy and you're gonna struggle, and I hope you struggle. Oh I will, I know, I will. If we read five chapters at a time. It gives me a full week. To hate myself. Oh God, you're gonna eat it up out and be like yeah, I'm on page two mm hm, yep. I mean I'm really happy that some of these authors are starting to focus on back to their original series. That got them like a little bit more publicity. I like it. You don't have to shut your hole. I didn't even say anything. You don't have to. I will say update on my comfy cozy read. I did go and get a refund from Audible. Good and then I went on and got the part one for the next book. I hate that. I love it, And the worst part is I'm actually like I kind of almost want to get the rest of them. I was going to get the second book physical when we were at Barnes and Noble. Guess what too, they didn't have the first and the second one, of course not, which is fine because I didn't need to buy any more that day. I will tell you the other ones that I got on Audible because I did actually return another title, so I got two because they had a deal for two for one credits and I got Knocked Acadia by Carrie Lake, which my sister really loved and it's a standalone, so I was like, yes, I can handle that, and then Annie bought hold On. Let's see if I can give a description. Yeah, girl, that's the description. Good job ebe. For fans of Never Let Me Go and My Dark Vanessa, a powerful, talkative novel about the relationship between a female robot and her human owner, exploring questions of intipacy, power, anatomy, and control. Gross that does not seem like a meat read. Annie Bot was created to be the perfect girlfriend for her human owner, Doug. Doug. Of course his name is Doug. I have nothing, just so you. Clear. Relations All I can think. Of, though, is the dog and up isn't That is not the dog I can think of. And I can see Doug having a. See what I go to when I hear Doug is the old like nineties cartoon of Doug. Oh yeah, that was one of my favorites. I was watching Disney yesterday. They had so many old school cartoons on it, and I was so pissed that they didn't have. He's a bullet, hey, Arnold, I don't know what like our our friend who lives with us, he's he's found a bunch like he was watching angry beavers the other day. He was pinky in the brain. He was what was the other day, like a few weeks ago. I came home from work and he's sitting in the living room and He's watching Drake and Josh and I'm like, dude, you do you I'm just not It's not gonna be me like I love that for him. He's like going down some nostalgia moments. Any Who's so. I don't know if I told you guys, I want a book, actually want a few books, but I want this story Might Save Your Life by Tiffany Crum. That's one of the newer books that we talked about that just released. Did you get that? On the story grap Nice? I listened to it. It was decent. It took me a little bit to get into, but once I was into it, it was so good. Get Ready for a wild Ride. I definitely would recommend it. I'm not saying it's my favorite, but I would definitely recommend it. It was a little romancy, a little mystery, a little what the heck is happening? All of the time. It was so much fun. I also won one, but I'm not sure how much I'm. Gonna like it. I also want two more. Did you that same day? I want this one? A few weeks ago, and then this week I won More Bid Curiosities by Macmillan Audios, and that is written by s Hattie Hattie and a Surrey I'm gonna butcher this offn' even I'm so sorry, I don't I don't even think I can try it. So s Hattie is the author and the narrator is a Surrey Wigeon Sonderara. I have some that like good luck, No, seriously, try to tell me how to say this last name. No, No, we'll not be trying that. And then the other one I won was love. Like, I'm really upset because some of them say that they ended and it still says in progress. For drawing them. I think that story graph has to do it in chunks, so that could be what's going on maybe, or it ended today like it ended at a certain. Time some March eighteenth. Oh damn, yeah, I have two. Well, if you're in the top eighteen, if you were pulled, like I think they do a list of polls. If you're in the top of the mount and someone doesn't claim it, then it just goes down the line. So that could be why oh oh, that would make sense because you have like a week to claim Yeah, gotcha. Well that's good news then, because I have three that are still in progress. Oh, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen. Oh no, Mamie didn't wins. So let's get into top reeds of the month. Oh god, okay, hold on, let me give it to my. So top learning read for me, I'm gonna split it into two. Yeah. The top learning read I had was Everything is Tuberculosis. Yes, you talked about that last time. It was really good. It was really terrifying. That is something you should look into seriously. I think everyone should read about it, or learn about it, or even just take a peek at it. Yeah. And then my number one read for ones that I chose just for fun out of my twenty six for twenty six would be Homes Where the Bodies Are by Geneva Ros. It was so freaking good good, And I know I talked about this one too. I don't think I'll stop talking about it. It was so good. No, I've heard a lot of good things anyways. But for my March, I I am not to be finishing another one in March. I know this of myself. I'm just not going to. So I finished another six, which is still really good for me. Three audios, two kindles, and one physical, which was the exact same as February. I I didn't read many. I read two spicies, which one was Priest, and we had a discussion about that. I'm still a little bit what did I tell B I was like, yeah, I had a coming to Jesus moment, and then I thought about it after I typed it, and I'm like, dot dot dot literally and I felt very dirty writing that. But I'm actually between two books again. One was a little bit spicier, a drift by Ellie Pond about a shipwrecked crew. Talked, Yeah, I mean, the spice doesn't happen until I checked. I checked what page I was on, this spice happened. It was like sixty two percent in Yeah, it took a while to get into the book. So it wasn't my highest like Priests was definitely higher on the spicy scale, but in terms of stars it was actually better. It was more stars. So I'm between that and then one that isn't spicy at all, and I just finished. But because I absolutely loved the rest of the books anyways, I'm fairly certain that this is going to be my pick. But Strange Buildings by Ketsu I love those books. BNN has a author table for this author now. Interesting, Yeah, because they're not public like they like, this is a YouTuber, Yeah, who high like masks face and even their photo in their book is a masked figure. Yeah. As soon as you get up the escalator, it's right, it's right on your right, like as soon as you get off the escalator. Really yeah, I was like, oh, b look, it's at least's favorite author. I love it. Yeah, it was really cool. Yeah. I mean and a lot of people don't don't know a lot of I mean, he's only well, okay, I can't say. He's written three books, but they've been turned into graphic novels too, And I'm like, huh, there's a part of me that wants them, but I'm fine. Like the the story is so wicked. Mm hmmm. Well, and that's just it because I'm like, these are crime mystery kind of but they're also like riddles and I love it and I will that is probably. It's like it's like you're el Kennedy. This is the author that I will probably be like, you need to read this. Yeah. So yeah, I only read six. I'm working on two kindles right now. I have two audios going two more lined up for audios, and I'm trying to pick the inmate back up. I just really am struggling to get into it, struggling big time, but I'm getting there. I'll get there eventually. So I run eleven, hopefully to finish two more before the end. But I don't know what that means. I beat you by I'm over the fifty. I have three audio books lined up plus one that i'm listening to. Those three are on Libby, and they're all on hold, which is peaving me off. I have Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins read. You'll have to let me know how that is. I've heard very good things. Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry and The Frozen River by Ariel law Lahan. So you don't need to. You could drop that. I have it. I just got it in one of my I know, but I can't add to my physical list right now the way that you like, how fast do you read it wouldn't freaking matter. Bro. I'm not reading anything except for my twenty six and twenty six except for that one your sister gave me, because that's part of my list. Is if you give me one, I have to read it. You don't have to because I do know you don't. Yes, I do know you do. And it's also only fifteen hours on Libby, which means they'll take me like seven. Right right, well, and that's my problem too, Like most of like the Binding or No Binding thirteen and Keeping thirteen are all like about ten hours, maybe between ten and fifteen hours. So I'm like, okay, so there's one day of war. Right, Well, we'll see. I'm starting a new job and whoa. Woooo. I'm starting a new job and I will have the ability to plug in and not have to worry about phone calls and stuff. So I'm hoping and I'm not saying this is going to happen right now. I fully intend on spending months and months and months learning what I'm doing. Yeah, you'll be fine, but. I'm excited. Whoa, that sounds like a dragon. I had some news for you that I just found. Okay, so the book Lord of the Flies. Did you have to read that in high school? Yeah? But I read it again as an adult, so. I have it because it is Yeah, yeah, I actually really liked that book in school. It's getting a TV adaptation. Cool. I'm not sure how to feel about that. If it's done tastefully, I think it'll be good. I think there's a lot of ways that could go really wrong. TV series will be released on Netflix in May six. I have news. I watched the teaser for Off Campus by. So I actually have to read that series because I do actually want to watch it. Yeah, B is reading my favorite of them right now. I know we need to do like a series book Boyfriends, like the series that have different main male characters. When we do that, that has to be a B episode. B has to be invited. Oh, we'll do that. We'll do that. She has made it very clear that her her her episode is not going to be her. Only episode, and that's fine. Like my sister has also said that she wants to come as like a repeat guest. Yeah, so I have a feeling like at least two weeks out of each month it's gonna be B and my sister. So I also have more news for you, okay, And it kind of relates to a topic we talked about in the past. I just wanted to follow up because this is highly ironic. So there's a book right now that is getting a lot of backlash and is actually getting canceled. It's getting canceled by the publisher after the author was accused of using AI. Oh I need to know, not one that I know. That's not what I know either. But I was just like, that's kind of on this, like I don't know the author, right, and I don't know their work. I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they just are so phenomenal. Or it could be because we all know how AI write. Sometimes it could be English as the second language. There are lots of things that could happen where translations could be weird, or it was translated from different language. In general, there are lots of things. I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt. But also good on that publisher. Yeah, I was surprised to see it because I feel like a lot of publishers are if that is happening, or just sweeping it under the rug. My thought is, so, I wonder if this publisher already had been in hot water or I know, some authors get paid quite a bit of money to produce books. I mean, it's not a lucrative job by any means, but some people get paid advances. And yeah, yeah, I mean yeah, I just I don't know if I could be, I would have to be self published. I would have to be I just I need my own timeline. Yeah. I also have a few quick games if you want to do it. Okay, I also have a question. Yeah, a question of the week. I am not personality type A. Obviously. Type B decides to DNF within the first two chapters. That's me. I'm being better about that. Before I would make myself read the whole thing. I am consciously giving them a shot, but also not giving them too much of a shot. It's kind of how I feel with the inmate right now. I feel like I just need something different. So I think you should read the Teacher. I don't have that one. I'm just saying, I think you really like that. Type see text friends to squeez about the book they're reading. We do that together when we also, like every week when the podcast goes out like we'll get random a random message in our group message from b just making comments. I actually get it from my sister too, in which my sister this week wrote to me and was like, what do you mean my count My vote doesn't count twice? So often I need it as a palate cleanser to be like, oh yeah, my books aren't that bad, Like my books are pretty tame compared to that, Like a lot of. This stuff your kindles, like the romance stuff your kindles. You're gonna find things like that and you're gonna be like, what what did I even just read? I actually test subject. I read that one last year on my kindle. Oh my god. So it was two books in one. They just split it up. Basically. It was into two different parts. There was the first one was like kind of bizarre, but it made sense. There was some actual plot behind it, kind of Part two went off the rails, like off the rails, bro, I can beat you off the rails. I read a book about a crab who had tentacles that had pintures on the end of the tentacles. No, I told you, I can go and beat your off the rail. My insides just just tightened up. Imagine you're outside, well, damnit, the crab ripped it clear off. Yeah for one time. That's shit. Okay, Oh no, I'm just gonna they're holding your movies now. That hurt me, like physically pains me. Oh god, okay, type D. Let's move along here. Searches for spoilers. No again, same book, but normally no, yeah, unless I really hate it, Somebody, I'm like, tell me what's gonna happen? So I don't have to read this. E only read series in order. I feel like that's different because there are certain series that have like prequels in the middle, like Throne of Glass one of uh one of them Assassins something or other is like in the it's the second book I think in the series, but technically you should read it first in order to get some behind the scenes stuff. Well Zodiac Academy also did that. Mm hmm, what was I thinking? So, Elsie Silver, her books are series is like a group of series, but if you're supposed to read them in a specific order, even those groups of series because they all tie together. Yeah again one of those like universe type things. Yeah, I don't know. There's a lot. Like I know, Riena Kent also has an entire multiverse series, like they call it the Renaverse. So there are certain books that you're supposed to read in an order, because I think some are about the the main like the main characters in College and then there's others about their parents. Like it's a lot. No, it's a lot. I mean I I read the first ballas book, so. Yeah, you enjoy it. It wasn't bad. Actually, ain't gonna be me. I just haven't continued it. Type F Bye's books based on cover alone, been there, done that? I feel like we could expand on that and say, Buye's books based on Sprayed Edges alone. Do you know how many Sprayed Edge books I turned down while I was at Barnes and Noble. I am so proud of your self control. I don't know. I bought two books at Barnes and Noble and neither of them at Spray Edges. Actually, again, I'm very proud of you. But these two books at first two books in a five book series. We just talked about this, but. They're each like a standalone. Oh yeah, does that make sense? So like you can read it alone, that's fine, but also you can read it as a series and it's about naked cowboys. Oh wait, yeah you showed me. Yeah yeah, see, Sam, you could do you could do a multiple book series of that one. Yeah you could, I probably could. Yeah. Type G refuses to DNF. You used to be like this. Yes, I'm being better m hm. Type H has a TBR mountain but still buys or borrows more books. That's both of us. I think it's time I need to go home. Why you're getting called out and you don't like it. So back when I was in late high school early college, when like I'm aging myself here too, when YouTube was getting real big, I was super into watching video gamers. So I know you're not you're not gonna be. Yeah, but anyways, I'm super into Marketplier, Peutifi, Jack scept Guy. Yeah, I'm huge into them. I don't know now that Like I watch some clips now and then on like TikTok of different people that have come out in that sort of genre, but I don't I don't go on YouTube as much anymore. I'm trying to think of other social media, Like I watch a lot of farming gardening. I love Alex Bennett. She's the one that talks to her baby or was talking to her baby like their besties. Yep, Oh my gosh. There's so many I love. I know. I'm like, I'm trying to go on and like look at actual like. Josh and Jace from England. I also so Josh just yes. So cute. Yeah, a cutey, cutey Patuti. I love that for him. There's this older gentleman his name is A Joyful Noise. That's his app on TikTok, and he just sings all of these songs and he's so cute, Like listen to. Him, that's a Sunway thing. He's so cute. I love that. I'm trying to doll and her mom makes it up real good. Oh yeah, Oh, I have chatted with them before because they actually visited Vermont a few years ago and they were asking for good places to go. They had gone to like Ben and Jerry's and they went to the cider Miil. So they're from Jersey, so they're not far from us. No, the last one that I can think of. She's trying very hard to be a book talker and not in a bad way. But Mamie and Jacob m love them. Who do I? Gluten Free Runner, She's the cutest little human ever. Who am I trying to think of? Oh my god, this is terrible. I just had it and now it's gone. Woof. I could get into Chloe's Giant Cookies drama all day. Every day. Yep. See this is oh I this is also expanding on my nerdiness. But I watch a lot of like D and D playthroughs or clips. I love it, even though I do not play. I would love to. I just never got into it. Not Taco Bell Queen mmmmm, Kirsten Carter mm hmm. I could do this for days. God, who is it trying to find it? I'm like, I'm I'm. Sure I throw one book talk person in there. I guess so Meat in the media center has my whole heart.
